Man City superstar Erling Haaland wants to play for Real Madrid

Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland is keen on taking his talent in LaLiga to play for Real Madrid, according to AS.

Haaland wants Real Madrid

Haaland, 23, has a release clause in his contract that allows him to leave Man City as early as this summer.

The same outlet also linked Haaland with Real Madrid by the turn of the year.

However, the Madrid plan was delayed after the reported arrival of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.

Haaland aimed to join the Spanish giants in 2025.

“Everything seems to have gone wrong,” the paper adds.

Still, sources familiar with his situation said Haaland still sees himself in the fight to play for Madrid.

Man City’s upcoming Champions League quarterfinal showdown against Real Madrid will serve as an audition for him to showcase his talents.

Haaland had an abysmal game in City’s semifinal against Madrid last season, as he did not score in both legs.

Speaking ahead of a last-16 tie with FC Copenhagen earlier this month, Haaland said he is happy with City.

However, he did not deny the Madrid rumors.

“I am really happy, especially with the people I am surrounded with. The manager, the directors, the board… they are a group of amazing people, and I’m really happy, I have to say,” he said.

“If I say this now, it’s probably going to be a massive headline. Tomorrow, you never know what the future brings. But again, I’m happy. You can write this, but you will also have to write everything I said right before. I’m happy.”

Man City to make a move for Haaland

Man City is reportedly speeding up the process of trying to renew Haaland, even though his contract will end in 2027.

His agent, Rafaela Pimenta, plans to include a release clause that allows him to sign for Madrid in the future.

Haaland’s camp will also monitor the future of Spanish manager Pep Guardiola with Manchester City, whose contract expired in 2025.

Guardiola was the main reason why Haaland joined City from Borussia Dortmund.
