The Los Blancos eclipsed Manchester City, who held the top spot in the 2021-22 season.

The Deloitte Football Money League held its 27th edition of analyzing the highest revenue-generating football clubs globally.

The top 20 clubs earned a record €10.5 billion ($11.4bn) in the 2022-23 season, a 14% increase on the previous year.

Real Madrid has reported record revenue of €831m, a €118m increase from last year.

City came second with €5m fewer than Madrid.

Rounding the top five are Paris Saint-Germain (€802m), Barcelona (€800m), and Manchester United (€746m).

FC Barcelona were one of the biggest movers, rising to fourth from 7th.

Meanwhile, Liverpool fell on the list, going from third to seventh.

Deloitte said the numbers revealed that commercial revenue replaced broadcast money as the largest income stream for clubs on the list.

“Another record-breaking year for Money League clubs represents the ongoing financial might of the football industry,” said Tim Bridge, lead partner in Deloitte’s Sports Business Group.

“A high demand for live sport is pointing towards further growth for commercial and matchday revenues, in particular.”

“As clubs appear to no longer be able to rely on exponential broadcast revenue growth, creating a more commercially focused business model will support them to achieve greater control over their financial stability.”
