Real Madrid played in unfinished Bernabeu
During the pandemic, Los Blancos played at the training ground Valdebebas Stadium Alfredo di Stefano.
Last season when Carlo Ancelotti’s side finished second in La Liga, they returned to the home ground and have been playing for some time with the stadium still undergoing work. Huge seats were covered in large tarpaulins on the stands to obscure the building work during last season’s games.
The opening date of the new and complete stadium
Madrid-based outlet Diario AS says some fans have been informed of the set completion date.
The original date has been delayed several times, but the new date seems solid and will be on the 23rd of December.
That would mean the first 11 games of the 2023/24 season will occur before the grand opening.
The first game at the completed stadium would be Real Mallorca, currently scheduled for the 3rd of January.
The plan will be hosting big games in La Liga next season at the new stadium with their home games against Athletic Club, Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona all coming in the second half of the season.
