Ancelotti stands with Bellingham

The red card called against Bellingham came after Madrid’s controversial 2-2 draw at Valencia in LaLiga on Saturday.

“I haven’t spoken with [Bellingham],” Ancelotti said on Tuesday ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League round-of-16 second leg against RB Leipzig.

The English superstar was ejected for disputing the official’s decision at the final whistle.

Referee Jesús Gil Manzano suddenly blew the final whistle after Bellingham tried to score a game-winner.

Bellingham displayed an “aggressive attitude”, and allegedly shouted “It’s a f—ing goal” to the official.

Reports stated that Los Blancos will appeal the red card called against Bellingham.

“I don’t need to speak to him about this subject. He’s a player who gives everything on the pitch,” Ancelotti said.”

“He’s doing well. I think what happened with the red card was a mistake. The truth is he was frustrated, but he did not say any insults.”

Madrid still on top

Fortunately, Real Madrid still leads the LaLiga standing with 62 points.

Ancelotti refused to comment on whether he preferred referees in the Champions League over LaLiga.

“I try not to think about the referee before the game, and I’d like to not think about the referee afterward,” he said.

Nonetheless, Ancelotti will not rest on his laurels and will continue its impressive run across all competitions.

After all, the pressure to deliver for the biggest clubs in the world remains a daunting challenge for the Italian coach.

“I like my job a lot, above all here at Real Madrid,” Ancelotti said. “But there’s more suffering than happiness… There are a lot of situations you have to control. Even after a victory, there are people who aren’t happy, maybe a player who hasn’t played. All that affects your happiness. You can share happiness with others, but the suffering is yours alone.”
