Asensio opens for Real Madrid’s exit
Real Madrid’s star may look to find new challenges in Premier League or Serie A if he makes his move this summer.
Marco Asensio has not closed the door on an exit this Summer transfer window, with his contract only lasts for another year with Real Madrid.
“I have one year left on my contract,” Asensio said, as reported by Sky Sports. “Now, I am focused on the national team.
“When this [international duty] is over, we will talk. We will see what I will do with my future. I think there are possibilities. There is also the option to stay and fulfil my contract year.
“Rumours are part of football, and more so at Real Madrid. High-level players are always associated with it. It’s something we have to live with.”
The Spanish footballer used to be Zinedine Zidane’s favorite during his reign in Los Blancos. However, the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in the summer of 2019 cost him too much, as Asensio was only able to return and start in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Since the injury happened, the Spanish winger has never got back to his peak form, and lost his place to Rodrygo and Fede Valverde.
As of now, his agent Jorge Mendes is looking at options for more game times. Sources close to the capital’s club states that Man United is a possible destination for the 26-year-old player, while Inter Milan or AC Milan is also among ideal choices.
The departure of Paul Pogba could benefit Asensio, as the Manchester’s club is looking for replacement, and Frenkie de Jong proved to be uneasy to sign, due to his price and competitions from elsewhere.
With his creative play and versatility, Asensio can easily be put in midfield or broad as winger.
