LaLiga 2021-22 Recap REAL MADRID – CAMPEONES!

The 2021-22 Season of LaLiga Santander has given us a lot of exciting matches, as well as thrilling activities to go along in partnership with M88 Mansion, the official betting partner of the league in Asia.

REAL MADRID – CAMPEONES!

Real Madrid has extended their reign as the winningest club in Spanish football with their 35th league title with a 4-0 win over Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabe last April 30. By clinching the championship in their 344th match, it equaled a club record for their earliest title win 32 years ago.
Carlo Ancelotti’s Los Blancos finished their championship campaign with 86 points (with 26 wins and 8 draws) in 38 matches and had an unbeaten streak of eleven matches in one instance.
Real Madrid benefited from the transfer fees from the departures of Martin Odegaard and Raphael Varane, as it only spent 31 million euros on Eduardo Camavinga.
Not only that, but they also snagged David Alaba from Bayern Munich on a free transfer, to make up for the exit of longtime captain Sergio Ramos who moved to French powerhouse Paris St. Germain on a free.
Forward Karim Benzema takes home the Pichichi for the first time in his career as the league’s leading scorer, breaking the five-year streak of Lionel Messi. The French international fired in 27 goals and had a dozen assists.
Runners-up Barcelona were 13 points behind Madrid despite a season-high 15-match unbeaten run with Xavi, their poor start under his predecessor Ronald Koeman put a quick end to their title aspirations, as they ended their season with three home losses in their last seven matches.

WHO WILL BE IN EUROPE NEXT SEASON?

Capping off the top four were last season’s champions Atletico Madrid (3rd, 71 points), and Sevilla (4th, 70 points), who will join the El Clasico rivals in next season’s UEFA Champions League, entering at the group stage.
Real Betis finished fifth and will be in the Europa League group stage, and because of their Copa Del Rey win over Valencia, they will be joined by sixth-placed Real Sociedad.
With their Champions League Cinderella run ended in the semifinal, seventh-ranked Villareal will enter the Europa Conference League in the play-off round.

ADIOS, LA LIGA

Not all clubs will remain in LaLiga Santander for the 2022-23 season, as we bid farewell to Deportivo Alaves, Levante UD and CF Granada, who will be relegated to the LaLiga Smartbank.
Los Granotes were the first side to be sent down to the Segunda, after their heavy 0-6 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid at the Bernabeu last May 12 that ended their five-year stay at the top tier.
Three days later, the Valencian side ended the Basques’ six-year stint in the Primera after a come-from-behind 3-1 win.
Their relegations put in vain the valiant effort of Joselu (14 goals) and Jose Luis Morales (13 goals), as the pair were among the top 10 goal-scorers this season.
Lastly, Granada fell on the final day of the season that ended their three-year shift in the top-flight. In a must-win homestand, they only produced a draw, and Cadiz and Mallorca won away at Alaves and Osasuna, respectively sent them to the drop.
