La Liga Prediction: Week 15 (Alavés vs Celta Vigo)

La Liga week 15 prediction: Alavés vs Celta Vigo

Deportivo Alavés play host against Celta Vigo this weekend on November 27 in a battle of two clubs trying to stave off relegation. Considering they are merely a point of each other on the table, it is hard to make a call on what the outcome of this match would be.

Alavés are currently at 14th with 14 points. They recently came off a 2-2 draw with Sevilla, and if not for Ivan Rakitić and his stoppage time goal, they could have come up with the victory. This means that they can rise to the level of their opponents, it is just a matter of keeping the result in their favor until the final whistle.

Celta de Vigo, on the other hand, are at 15th place with 13 points. They drew their last match, 1-1, which was against Villareal. This is not as headline-grabbing as Alavés’, but beggars cannot be choosers in this regard, and Celta will take any point that they can squeeze out of every fixture.

In the two clubs’ 32 official faceoffs, RC Celta have won 13, and the Babazorros have come out on top 11. Last season, the former emerged victorious in their two meetings, 2-0 and 3-1.

15 of their games against each other have gone over 2.5 and 13 under 1.5. Combined, both squads average 2.4 goals against each other, with Celta Vigo averaging 1.34 goals.

Alavés’ home record against Celta is 8-4-4, with eight of these going over 2.5 and seven under 1.5. Together, they score 2.37 goals at the Mendizorrotza, Alavés responsible for 1.31 of them.

Recent form (last five matches

drew Sevilla, 2-2

defeated Levante, 2-1

drew Barcelona, 1-1

defeated Elche, 1-0

defeated Cádiz, 2-0

Celta Vigo

drew Villareal, 1-1

drew Barcelona, 3-3

drew Rayo Vallecano, 0-0

lost to Real Sociedad, 0-2

defeated Getafe, 3-0

As stated earlier, this is too close to call. Historically, Celta have the advantage, although Alavés have the upper hand when based on recent form. Considering that half of their most recent matches are draws, it would not be a surprised if their own encounter ends up the same.
