Dembele injury confirmed
The striker will be out for five weeks after the injury he suffered against Girona, in which he went off in the 25th minute.
Initial tests showed positive signs but eventually proven to be worse. There’s a small tear in one part, the estimated time needed to recover will be five weeks.
“Tests carried out this evening on Ousmane Dembélé have shown that he has a rectus femoris injury in his left thigh. He is out and his recovery will determine his availability.” Barcelona’s announcement on twitter.
It all depends on how things improve, but judged by the former Borussia Dortmund’s record of injury, no one can think of a brighter scenario.
Pedri – who replaced Dembele, scored a crucial goal to earn Barcelona’s three points far from home and extend the gap to 5 points with second place Real Madrid.
Dembele’s games to miss
Dembele could miss a strings of important games for Barca, such as as league games against Betis, Sevilla, Villarreal, Cadiz, Almeria, and Valencia.
It’s the first injury Dembele has had since Xavi took over in November 2021.
