Villarreal 3-4 Barca – Lamine Yamal impressed in a 7-goal thriller at the Ceramica
What is so special about the 16-year-old talent Lamine Yamal?
- Youngest player to record a La Liga assist in the 21st century
- MOTM in Barcelona’s win
- He was applauded by the Villarreal fans when he was subbed off
The Blaugranas’s young sensation, Yamal, who started his only second time for the club, left his marks in the entertaining comeback over Villarreal, guiding the Spanish champions to an entertaining victory over Villarreal.
The teenage winger assisted Gavi to head home the opening goal while twice striking the woodwork, one of which was the direct touch that led to Robert Lewandowski’s winning goal.
Frenkie de Jong tapped the second one only three minutes after Gavi’s opener, but the home side responded strongly.
Juan Foyth headed home to shorten the gap before summer signing Alexander Soloth leveled the score five minutes before the break.
Barca fell behind only five minutes into the second half when Alex Baena finished crucially.
Xavi’s side showed relentless spirit, and it was paid off by Ferran Torres’ strike that restored parity.
The defining moment arrived when Yamal’s fierce drive ricocheted off the post, only for veteran striker Lewandowski to pounce on the rebound, securing his first goal of the season and propelling Barcelona ahead.
Celta Vigo 0-1 Real Madrid – Jude Bellingham strikes again as Real Madrid steal late victory
There could not be a better start for Real Madrid’s new boy Jude Bellingham.
The English youngster scored again to bring his tally to four goals in his first three LaLiga EA Sports appearances.
It took Bellingham until the 81st minute to break the deadlock, but it was worth the wait as the midfielder helped Los Blancos seal a tight game at Celta Vigo.
Vinicius Jr was forced off the pitch after a severe seem-to-be injury, then Rodrygo missed the penalty in the 68th minute; indeed, Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti’s rage is understandable.
But when they needed a goal, Bellingham delivered another moment of greatness.
A corner was curled towards the penalty spot by Toni Kroos, with Joselu winning a key header to knock the ball back goalwards.
Bellingham, quick as a flash, would emerge from nowhere and react first, getting to the aerial ball and nodding it into the goal.
His customary celebration followed, and Real Madrid managed to hang on after a lot of injury time, leaving the team top of LaLiga EA Sports with three wins in three matches.
