WILL MALLORCA’S COPA DEL REY SUCCESS HELP AGUIRRE?
Mallorca sits currently in 16th in La Liga and is currently six points ahead of the relegation zone. But Aguirre steered the Los Bermellones to their fourth Copa del Rey final, which could be enough to keep the Mexican boss.
Aguirre steered Mallorca to victory over Real Sociedad on penalties at Reale Arena to play in the Copa del Rey final. Should the La Liga club go all the way, it would be the 65-year-old former midfielder’s first-ever trophy in Spanish football.

However, talks between Aguirre and Mallorca management have been put on hold, Marca reported.
AGUIRRE COULD DECIDE HIS PATH AFTER THE SEASON
It’s also possible that Aguirre himself would decide his future after Mallorca’s season ends this summer. The 5-foot-8 former professional footballer signed with Mallorca on March 24, 2022, in a two-year deal.
Mallorca bosses are reportedly keen to give Aguirre a new contract for steering the club into the Copa del Rey competition. The Mexican coach is “showing his gratitude” to Mallorca or trusting him by trying to win the Copa del Rey title for the club.
“I see and notice the affection of the people, even going to make the purchase that my wife ordered me, people stop me and encourage me,” Aguirre said. “People on the street are excited and the least we can do is make them feel proud of our work.”
