Barcelona wants Pedri

According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, Barca have a fresh deal for the 21-year-old to be discussed in the next months.

Pedri’s current contract runs until 2026, but Barcelona want to secure him long-term.

European clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain previously expressed interest in acquiring Pedri.

However, the Spanish midfielder rejected any approach to continue at Barca, per Romano.

Mundo Deportivo also reported that the proposal was the club’s way to show “support and absolute trust” for Pedri, despite the injury woes.

Injury woes

Hamstring injuries continue to hamper the Spain international, causing him to miss 19 games across all competitions.

Pedri’s last appearance was during Barcelona’s LaLiga game against Athletic Club less than a month ago.

The young star left the game early after sustaining his third hamstring injury of the season.

Fortunately, Pedri suited up for Blaugrana in their Champions League quarter-finals match against PSG.

His timely return helped Barcelona secure a 3-2 first-leg victory over the French capital.

So far, Pedri has scored 2 goals and provided 5 assists in 25 matches for Barcelona across all tournaments.
