Barcelona convinced Jurgen Klopp to take over as manager

German coach Jurgen Klopp may get a shorter break than he wanted if FC Barcelona continues to pursue him.

Barca is reportedly determined to convince Klopp to forego his plans and assume the manager’s role this year. The Catalan club hopes the outgoing Liverpool coach will skip a longer break and accept their offer.

Aside from Klopp, the Catalans also consider Thomas Tuchel, Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi, and Hansi Flick for the vacant post. Outdoing manager Xavi is set to depart the club this summer.

The initial goal for Barcelona administrators, however, is to convince Klopp to sit down with them for negotiations.

Calls for Xavi’s replacement continued to mount after Barcelona was dragged to a 3-3 draw against Granada over the weekend. FC Barcelona sporting director Deco drew flak for his ‘exhausted comments after that match.

Deco even said Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta agreed with his views about the club.
