Atletico Madrid closed the door on Cristiano Ronaldo
Atletico Madrid appears to be among the latest elite clubs rejected Cristiano Ronaldo.
The couple of recent days have been crazy for Cristiano Ronaldo and even Manchester United fans. The Portuguese legendary strikers has been looking for an exit, while keep having been rejected by clubs.
Atletico denied bidding for Ronaldo
Few days ago, reports from AS and other English sources stated that Atletico Madrid could make shock move as they were keen on signing Ronaldo.
The former Real Madrid would of course, create a ‘bomb’ if he actually joins one of his rival’s clubs.
However, the Madrid club president, Enrique Cerezo, denied those rumors about signing Ronaldo.
“I don’t know who made up the Cristiano story, but it’s practically impossible for him to come,” Cerezo said to the press, slammed all the rumors about Ronaldo.
This is not an actual shock, even to the most hard-core CR7’s fans. Atletico is an impossible destination for the 37-year-old striker.
Diego Simeone has a profound attacking pack of options, which may would cause even Ronaldo troubles in getting in. The Argentina manager seems to be happy with the likes of Thomas Lemar, Antoine Griezmann and Joao Felix for now.
Besides, per economic status, Ronaldo’s mammoth salary, which is estimated around way above 20m euro/season, would well destroy Atletico’s salary structure.
Atletico is not the first, and may not be the last elite club to reject Ronaldo. Previously, Bayern Munich director Oliver Kahn verified that they did discuss internally about the possible bidding for Ronaldo.
However, the outcome is somewhat identical with Atletico’s decision:
“We discussed Cristiano Ronaldo internally – I consider him one of the greatest footballers ever.”
“Then we came to conclusion that, despite appreciation for him, he would not fit into our philosophy in the current situation.”
Ronaldo and the Manchester United, how is it going?
Meanwhile, Ronaldo has just arrived in Manchester to discuss with the club about this future. The leaving card is still on the table.
Sir Alex Ferguson also showed up, as the legendary manager still has a valuable voice on the club’s transfer.
In case Ronaldo still insists on leaving, he may ask the club to terminate the contract, but the damage both physical and non-physical would be serious.
