2022-23 LaLiga featured match preview week 18: Barcelona vs Getafe
Table leader Barcelona battle Getafe at Camp Nou this weekend in our featured match for week 18.
Barcelona is coming off a busy week, if not a start of the year. They have already played five matches in three weeks, and only one of those is a league fixture. Make it six if the 1-1 draw in their derby against Espanyol on new year’s eve is also included.
In contrast, Getafe’s schedule is not as tight but they are not able to make progress. They suffered similar 1-2 defeats to Sevilla and Espanyol in league play.
Because of that, the Azulones are tied with three other clubs with 17 points, a mere point from relegation. On the other hand, the Blaugrana are in first with 41 points and a match on hand.
Getafe have only won a single match in their last five league contests, while Barcelona have a 4-1-0 win-draw-loss record in their last five.
Last season, FC Barcelona were victorious, 2-1, in their meeting at Camp Nou. Getafe, however, were able to secure a draw in the return leg in May.
