Highlights
Osasuna grabbed the one-sided victory at Granada was the earliest match this week (Friday); the rest of the MD10 fixtures continued on Saturday and Sunday, while Valencia’s hosting Cadiz is the latest one (early Tuesday).
Celta Vigo 0-3 Atletico Madrid: Griezmann’s hat-trick sealed the win for Los Colchoneros
Diego Simeone’s men run rampant at Balaidos despite the host fought back bravely.
Antoine Griezmann bagged home the match’s ball, having scored a hat-trick, with a first-half penalty before adding two more in the second part of the game.
Three goals put the French striker up in the list of most productive players in La Liga this year, having scored 17 and assisted 11 goals.
Celta goalkeeper Ivan Villar was sent off for a foul on Alvaro Morata, which led to Griezmann’s opener from the penalty spot, as Rafa Benitez’s side still cannot win on their turf.
Real Sociedad 1-0 Mallorca
It was far from a vintage performance from Real Sociedad, but they picked up another three points after a narrow win over Mallorca. Brais Mendez’s second-half header was the winning moment for La Real, who are up to fifth with that victory.
Getafe 1-1 Real Betis
Getafe and Real Betis played a battling 1-1 draw at the Coliseum. The away side took the lead inside the opening minute courtesy of Marc Roca, but Borja Mayoral’s 17th-minute header ensured a share of the spoils.
Barcelona 1-0 Athletic Bilbao: 17-year-old Barcelona wonderkid scores winner on debut with first-ever shot
The defending champions took on Athletic Bilbao without a string of key players, but the kid was all right, as 17-year-old Marc Guiu made sure the crowds sang his name after the win.
Barca struggled to find the breakthrough at home to Athletic Club and drew 0-0 when Guiu entered in the 79th minute. And by the time the clock had struck 80, the 17-year-old star-in-the-making had poked home to mark the perfect start to his professional career.
Loanee Joao Felix put Guiu through one-on-one with Spain stopper Unai Simon. And the teenager took care of the rest, with Simon’s palm unable to keep his attempt out of the net.
Sevilla 1-1 Real Madrid
Real Madrid have been unable to extend their lead at the top of the La Liga table to five points, having missed out on another three points after being held to a 1-1 draw by Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side thought they had taken an early lead twice. VAR ruled out Federico Valverde’s strike, while Jude Bellingham found the back of the net after play had already been controversially stopped for a foul.
Both teams had massive chances in the first half to open the scoring, but neither could find that elusive goal. However, Sevilla found it after 74 minutes when David Alaba unfortunately put the ball into his net.
Fortunately for Real Madrid, they hit back a few minutes later. Toni Kroos’ free-kick was brilliantly headed home by stand-in captain Dani Carvajal, who picked up his first goal of the season.
Both teams pushed for a winner, but despite seven minutes of added time, neither could find it. It means that Real Madrid remain top with a three-point lead, whereas Sevilla move up to 13th.
