Real Madrid save €75m in wages following departures from strings of stars such as Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio.

Within 48 hours having been extremely busy, the La Liga giant let go series of their stars at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Benzema and more stars left

Benzema’s departures seems to be the most shocking for the fans as they expect their top scorer this season would activate the clause to stay for another year.

However, the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner decided that his 14-year spell at Los Blancos now has to come to an end.

Meanwhile, Hazard has not been playing for a long time due to his insufficient physical condition and willing to cut short the contract which still runs until 2025.

Mariano Diaz and Marco Asensio are the rest of the list who left, with the pair are looking for more game times and new challenges elsewhere.

Significant saves from departures

Sources from Mundo Deportivo reported that the royal club save huge money from the above departures.

Up to €75m in wages has been saved, with Hazard’s contract was for €30m per year, Benzema was on €28m, with Asensio and Mariano each on €9m per annum.

Additionally, Madrid will now have spare space for the summer’s reinforcement as Carlo Ancelotti is only left with two forwards for next season, who are Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo.

There have been some big names if the list like Harry Kane, Kai Harvertz and Roberto Firmino, all have been linked to Florentino Perez’s project of a new Galacticos next season.
