Jordi Alba, Xavi and Raphinha are the trio that scored and assisted during Barca’s impressive victory against Sevilla.
There was worry only eight minutes into the game when Sergio Busquets had to be subbed due to his injured ankle.
Franck Kessie came on to replace the Catalan club’s captain, and eventually became one of the best players of the game.
First half saw Barca’s struggle to find a way through Sevilla’s defense, with Robert Lewandowski’s shot saved finely by Yassine Bounou, who made another and even better save shortly later.
Sevilla brought new boy Bryan Gil and Erik Lamela at half-time, but the home team still took control of the contest.
The breakthrough arrive in the second half thanks to substitute Kessie who flicked the ball perfectly to find find Alba who fired low beating Bounou.
One-goal lead put Barca in a much more comfortable game and two more goals came within 10 minutes, from 70th-79th.
Gavi doubled the hosts’ lead 12 minutes later after being assisted by Raphinha whose cross was strong enough for the midfielder to easily score by a tap-in.
Raphinha then added the third himself to edge Barca ever closer to a first league title in four seasons.
This time it was Alba who assisted. The full-back played the ball into the middle and Raphinha was there to poke it past Bounou and cap a fine individual and team display.
The Brazilian continued to prove his worth by involving in all three goals for Barca in this game. He now reached 8 goal contributions in 2023 (4G, 4A), better than any other La Liga player.
Barca’s impressive form continues
It seems like things are being set up for Barca to win the league this season, even though it is a bit too early to say.
Reigning champions Madrid continue to struggle for any real consistency, Barca have now won 10 of their past 11 LaLiga games and are unbeaten since mid-October.
Sevilla have now failed to beat Barca in 15 LaLiga meetings and are winless at Camp Nou in the league in a run spanning 20 visits since December 2002.
What’s next?
Barcelona will look to extend their winning run when they travel to Villarreal on next Sunday, knowing that Real Madrid has a mountain to climb within this month as El Derbi is just around the corner.
