La Liga Recap Week 27 : Real Madrid 4-1 Real Sociedad: Los Blancos came from behind to smash La Real at home

Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad in an impressive performance at Santiago Bernabeu, on a Saturday night.

The visitor surprised top-table Real Madrid, when Mikel Oyarzabal scored the opening goal by penalty in the 10th minute.

Dani Carvajal’s clumsy challenge on David Silva led to a perfect chance for the visitor. Oyarzabal made no mistake in converting the kick to the goal. However, that was all Real Sociedad could do at Madrid.

From the 40th minute onwards, the game was all Real Madrid. Los Blancos completed the comeback in three minutes (40’ to 43’) to the break, thanks to two amazing long-distance strikers by Eduardo Camavinga and Luka Modric.

Two goals from Karim Benzema (penalty) and Marco Asensio sealed the victory at home for Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti’s team is now taking their ground firmly on the table as 1st place, with the 8-point gap that 2nd place Sevilla has to close.

Elche 1-2 Barcelona: Controversial victory for Barca

Barcelona has been in impressive form since their 3-2 loss to Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey early this year. The Catalan club managed to win 5 games and draw 2, in the total of 7 games in all competitions.

They wished to extend that amazing streak in this away game against Elche. However, Fran Escriba’s team stunned Xavi’s Blaugrana with the opening goal, only one minute before halftime. Fidel’s silky finish gave Ter Stegen zero chance to save.

The differences were made when Xavi subbed Ferran Torres in right at the start of 2nd half. In the 60th minute, the Spanish striker showed up at the right place to score from a close range, following Jordi Alba’s first touch assist.

Dramas stroke toward the end of the game. In the 80th minute, Antonio Barragán handled Memphis Depay’s cross, it seemed. VAR adjudged the Elche’s man blatant handball, and it was a penalty, despite the angry reactions from the home side.

The Holland forward did not make any mistake in turning this golden chance from the penalty spot into the decisive goal. 2-1 for Barcelona, and it was in the 84th minute.

Elche were aggrieved to have their own penalty appeal turned down late on when the ball hit Alba’s hand but Barça held on to seal the three points.
