Real Betis Club Summary

Real Betis, full name Real Betis Balompié, SAD, are a Sevillan football club that was founded as España Balompié in 1907. They play their home fixtures at Estadio Benito Villamarín, which has a 60,00-plus seating capacity. 

Betis have won La Liga once and the Copa del Rey twice. Despite having this relative success, they have had a tumultuous history with numerous relagations and promotions. Starting as a second division club in 1929, they have spent 56 seasons at the Primera División, 25 at the Segunda División, and seven in the third tier. They have only been to the UEFA Champions League once and UEFA Cup seven times. 

Real Betis Balompié have a long-standing rivalry with city neighbors Sevilla FC, which is called El derbi Sevillano or the Seville derby. 

Joaquín currently holds the club record for most matches played, while Rubén Castro has scored the most goals for Los Verdiblancos with 148. They have also retired Miki Roqué’s number.
